How to add subtitles to your videos easily
1Upload a video to transcribe
In a new project, pick an audio or video file (MP3, MP4, WAV, MOV, etc.) you want to transcribe. This will generate the transcript for your subtitles, and you can label each speaker to display accurate names in your final captions.
2Edit your video transcript
Descript flags filler words such as “um” or “like” so you can remove them if you prefer. Right-click any highlighted term to delete it from the transcript or video. With Correct mode (press C), you can make changes to your subtitle text, and your edits will stay synced with each speaker.
3Generate your subtitles
For soft subtitles, open Publish > Export > Subtitles and select SRT or VTT. You can include or hide speaker labels and set the maximum characters or lines per subtitle card. Download the file and add it to your chosen platform. For hard subtitles & captioning, you can use the Text tool to style and embed subtitles directly into a video export.
