13: The Musical is a 2022 American musical coming-of-age comedy-drama film directed by Tamra Davis from a screenplay written by Robert Horn, based on the 2007 stage musical of the same name by Horn, Jason Robert Brown, and Dan Elish.

Who was in the original Broadway cast? The original Broadway cast was notably composed of all teenagers, with a teenage band, to boot. Ariana Grande is, of course, an international pop star now, but she got her start in 13 playing the cheerleader Charlotte.

Evan wants to call off the Bar Mitzvah party because it would only be him, Patrice, and Archie, but Patrice and Archie point out it that won't be that bad, and Evan starts to agree. He surprises Patrice with a kiss, and she surprises him back ("If That's What It Is").

After a short period of time, Patrice releases her feelings for Evan in Tell Her, and motivates him to keep walking on in If That's What It Is. They kiss for the first time there and they also kiss when Evan is preparing for his bar mitzvah, this implies that they might be dating.

This somewhat follows the original story from the past Broadway musical, the music is good and the cast is super talented. Where it falls short is too much was changed from the musical, the story falls short. It doesn't leave the audience with anything to think about, it's just generic. Overall, 5/10.

13: The Musical is a fun and peppy adaptation of the 2008 Broadway musical that teens will enjoy. Check out the details in my parents guide movie review.

The story concerns the life of 13-year-old Evan Goldman as he moves from New York City to Appleton, Indiana, and his dilemma when the move conflicts with the celebration of his Bar Mitzvah. It premiered in 2007 in Los Angeles and transferred to Broadway on September 16, 2008.

So rate it PG-13… which is the age group it's meant for anyway….
